Aspiring Leaders Workshop

Serving a school as its principal is among the most challenging, important, and rewarding jobs in education. Principals are expected to solve problems, be ever-present, know everyone, be an instructional leader, and achieve results. Highly competent principals are the key to ensuring all students receive the education they need to be successful—whether their next step is school or their first job. Discerning whether the principalship is for you, therefore, is one of the most important career decisions you can make. Join us for a day of candid learning, engaging conversation, and helpful networking as we share information and provide you with the time and the space to learn more about the challenges and the rewards of the principalship and what you can do next if this is the job for you.

Participant outcomes

• Participants will examine traits of an exemplary school leader
• Participants will understand the various roles of current school leaders
• Participants will look at a process for beginning as a school leader in a school
• Participants will explore the role of teacher leaders in effective schools
• Participants will explore the role of families and communities in effective schools
• Participants will have the opportunity to ask school leaders specific questions about their work
